TapeScan works fully without an account, and in that mode no data leaves your device. Camera frames used for AR measuring are processed on-device by Apple's ARKit and are never uploaded, stored, or shared — by us or anyone else. If you optionally sign in to back up & sync, we store your email address and the measurements and floor plans you create, and nothing else. We run no ads, no analytics SDKs, and no tracking of any kind.
Without an account (the default): nothing. Measurements, room scans, floor plans, and settings live only on your device. Purchases are processed by Apple; we never see your payment details.
With an optional account:
This data is used solely to provide backup and sync. It is never sold, shared with advertisers, or used for tracking or profiling. It is stored with our infrastructure provider, Supabase, in access-controlled databases where only your authenticated account can read your rows.
TapeScan uses your camera to detect surfaces and place measurement points. All processing happens on your device through Apple's ARKit and RoomPlan frameworks. Camera frames never leave your device.
Subscriptions and the lifetime unlock are processed entirely by Apple through your Apple Account. We receive only an anonymous confirmation that a purchase is active — never your name, card, or billing details.
You can delete your account at any time inside the app: Settings → Account → Delete Account. This permanently removes your account and all synced data from our servers immediately. Content stored locally on your device remains yours and stays on the device. You can also simply sign out — local use never requires an account.
TapeScan is a measuring utility rated 4+; it has no social features, no ads, and collects no data from any user without an explicit, optional sign-in.
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with an updated effective date. Material changes will be called out in the app's release notes.
